Method 1: Use Tracygram's Instagram Photo Downloader
1
Tracygram Photo Downloader
BEST METHOD
The fastest and most reliable way to download any public Instagram photo in full original resolution. No app install, no Instagram login, works on all devices.
- Open Instagram and go to the post with the photo you want.
- Tap the three dots (โฏ) at the top-right corner of the post.
- Select Copy Link โ the post URL is now in your clipboard.
- Open your browser and go to tracygram.com/download-photo.
- Paste the link into the input box and tap the Download button.
- Tap and hold the photo (mobile) or right-click (PC) and select Save Image to your device.
No account needed. Works for any public Instagram post on phone, tablet or computer.
๐ก Pro tip: Tracygram fetches the original resolution Instagram stores on its servers โ noticeably sharper than a screenshot and better than what is displayed in your compressed feed.
Method 2: Download Your Own Instagram Posts
2
Instagram's Built-In Download Option
OFFICIAL
Instagram added a native download option for your own posts. This only works for photos you yourself uploaded.
- Open the Instagram app and go to your profile page.
- Tap on the post you want to download.
- Tap the three dots (โฏ) in the top-right corner of the post.
- Select Download from the menu. If you do not see it, update your Instagram app.
- The photo saves directly to your Camera Roll (iPhone) or Gallery (Android).
โ ๏ธ Limitation: This only works for posts you created. For any other account's photos you need a different method.
Method 3: Save with Instagram's Bookmark Feature
3
Instagram Bookmark (Save Inside App Only)
NOT YOUR DEVICE
The quickest way to save a post โ but this stores it inside Instagram only. Nothing is downloaded to your phone's camera roll or gallery.
- Find the post you want to save in your feed or on any public profile.
- Tap the bookmark icon (๐) at the bottom-right of the post. It turns solid when saved.
- To organise into folders, tap and hold the bookmark icon โ you will be prompted to save to a collection or create a new one.
- Access saved posts any time: go to Profile โ Menu (โฐ) โ Saved.
โ ๏ธ Important: Instagram bookmarks are tied to your account. If you lose access, delete the app or get locked out, your saved posts disappear completely. For anything you want long-term, download it to your device instead.
Method 4: Right-Click Save on Desktop Browser
4
Browser Right-Click on PC or Mac
NO TOOLS NEEDED
On a computer, you can often save Instagram photos directly through your browser without any third-party tool.
- Open instagram.com in Chrome, Firefox or Edge on your computer.
- Navigate to the post with the photo you want.
- Right-click directly on the photo.
- Select Save image as... from the context menu.
- Choose where to save it and click Save.
Does not work? Some accounts block right-click via CSS. Press F12 โ Network tab โ reload the page โ filter by "img" โ find the image URL โ open in new tab โ right-click and save.
Method 5: Screenshot (Quick but Lower Quality)
5
Take a Screenshot
LOWER QUALITY
The fastest method when you need something instantly โ but quality will not match the original.
On iPhone:
- Face ID models: Press Side button + Volume Up at the same time.
- Older iPhones with Home button: Press Home + Power simultaneously.
- Screenshot saves to your Photos app instantly.
On Android:
- Press Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- On Samsung: swipe your palm across the screen if enabled in Settings.
- Screenshot saves to your Gallery.
On PC / Mac:
- Windows: Press Windows + Shift + S to open Snipping Tool and drag to select.
- Mac: Press Command + Shift + 4 and drag to select. Saves to Desktop.
๐ฅ Download Instagram Photos in Full Quality
No app, no login, no watermark. Paste the post link and download instantly.

Things to Know Before Downloading Instagram Photos
Instagram compresses photos when they are uploaded
When someone posts to Instagram, the platform compresses the image to reduce file size. The photo you download is not the original from their camera โ it is Instagram's compressed version. That said, downloading through Tracygram gives you the best available version, which is significantly sharper than a screenshot.
Carousel posts have multiple images
If a post contains multiple photos, Tracygram will show all images in the post so you can download whichever ones you want. The right-click method on desktop only saves the visible slide โ you would need to swipe through each one manually.
Will Instagram notify someone if you save their photo?
No. Instagram does not send any notification when someone saves, screenshots or downloads a photo from a public post. This applies to all five methods in this guide.
Stories and Highlights need a different approach
This guide covers regular feed posts. To download Instagram Stories or Highlights, check out our free Instagram Story Viewer โ it lets you view and download stories from public accounts anonymously.
โ ๏ธ Copyright note: Downloading photos for personal use is generally fine. Reposting someone else's photos without credit or using them commercially without permission can violate copyright law.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I save Instagram photos without an account? โผ
Yes. Tracygram lets you download photos from any public Instagram account without logging in. You do not need an Instagram account at all โ just copy the post URL and paste it into the downloader.
Why can't I save Instagram photos directly from the app? โผ
Instagram intentionally limits direct downloads to protect content creators. The built-in bookmark saves posts to your account, not your device. The download option is only available for your own posts. For anyone else's public posts you need a third-party method like the ones in this guide.
Can I download photos from private Instagram accounts? โผ
No. Private accounts restrict their content behind Instagram's authentication system. Any tool claiming to download photos from private profiles either does not work or is unsafe. Tracygram only works with public posts.
Will the downloaded photo be the same quality as the original? โผ
Instagram compresses photos when they are uploaded. Even with the best download tool, you are getting Instagram's stored version, not the original file from the creator's camera. Tracygram downloads the highest quality version available โ much better than a screenshot.
Does saving someone's Instagram photo violate copyright? โผ
Downloading for personal use is generally acceptable in most countries. However, reposting or using someone else's photos commercially without permission can infringe copyright. Always credit the original creator when sharing their work.
Is Tracygram safe to use? โผ
Yes. Tracygram does not ask for your Instagram login, does not store your data and does not require account creation. You paste a public post URL and the tool fetches the image. Nothing about your identity is collected or stored.
